Medical teams from Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, train soldiers in life-saving interventions.
In any war or military conflict, saving lives is a priority; Swords of Iron is no exception. Preparing Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers for medical emergencies in the field in a simulated and safe environment in the fastest possible time is a way of saving lives.
As Israel’s leading Trauma Center, Rambam has accumulated vast experience and treated more severely injured patients than any other hospital in Israel. Rambam specialist physicians and nurses from the Cheryl Spencer Pediatric Emergency Department at the Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital at Rambam have been involved in an activity far removed from their day-to-day professional routines of caring for pediatric patients. For the past two weeks, they have trained military personnel in life-saving interventions, mass casualty situations, and scenarios that duplicate real-time conditions on the frontline.
These training sessions occur at IDF bases and specially designated staging areas. The expedited training for various life-saving operations will strengthen the preparedness of those in the field.
Dr. Idit Pasternak, director of Rambam’s Cheryl Spencer Pediatric Emergency Department, who participates in the training, says, “There has been a tremendously positive response to these sessions.”
With intensive training by Rambam expert medical teams, the best possible medical outcomes are within reach. We stand with our soldiers on the field and look forward to a peaceful end to this conflict.
