Department of Endodontics and Dental Trauma
Department of Endodontics and Dental Trauma
The Department of Endodontic and Dental Trauma was established in 1999 to render high quality endodontic treatment to patients from Haifa and Northern Israel. As such, the senior faculty members and residents perform all types or endodontic treatments including root canal therapy, repeat root canal therapy, and apical surgery for failed root canal treatments.
The Department has been accredited by the Ministry of Health and the Scientific Council of the Israel Dental Association (IDA) as a postgraduate training center in Endodontics (the only one of its kind in Haifa and northern Israel). Hence, we offer a three-year postgraduate program for general dentists wanting to specialize in endodontics. Completion of the program entitles these dentists to take the IDA Board Exam in Endodontics to become certified endodontists.
However, dental trauma is the second charter of the Department. With Rambam Health Care Campus serving as the only tertiary referral hospital in Northern Israel, many trauma victims (civilians and military) are treated here. Approximately 9% of all trauma victims have injuries to the face, jaws, or teeth. Successful treatment of such dental injuries is time dependent. Thus, the Department collaborates with colleagues in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department to deliver optimal and timely treatment to these patients.
The Department is headed by Dr.David Keinan, with Dr. Roni Dakar in charge of the post graduate program.
