The Department of Neurology diagnoses and treats diseases of the nervous system, including disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, neuro-muscular junction, and muscle. Treatments offered include a specialized emergency therapy for stroke patients using TPA for clot-dissolving and neuro-interventions for clot extraction, both in the early time-window after stroke occurrence.
The department works in close cooperation with the units of Cognitive Neurology, Pain Relief, Neuro-oncology and Neuro-radiology. For the specific neurology subspecialties, the department provides the following services:

Comprehensive set up for diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy including video-EEG and a Vagal-pacer Clinic.

Movement Disorders Institute with the newest and most advanced drug treatments, deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's and similar disorders, focused ultrasound (FUS) for essential and Parkinsonian tremors, and support groups for patients and their families.
