The Department of Neurosurgery at Rambam Health Care Campus provides treatment to patients requiring neurosurgery due to pathologies of the central nervous system. The department is nationally recognized as a leader in the treatment and management of all neurosurgical fields including benign and malignant tumors of the brain and spine, skull base surgery, vascular diseases and microsurgery, hydrocephalus pediatric neurosurgery, traumatic injuries, degenerative diseases and tumors of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine and sacrum, and treatment of head injuries—utilizing modern surgery and a sophisticated neuro-intensive care unit.
The department has 32 beds, including 11 neuro-intensive care beds. Some 4,500 patients are treated annually, and approximately 1,200 surgical procedures are performed each year. Rambam is the primary medical provider to the Israel Defense Forces Northern Command; hence, the department has also acquired extensive experience in treating battle injuries.
