Clinical Trials in Endocrinology
The Endocrinology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus has been conducting all phases of clinical trials (Phase I-IV) for over 20 years. These clinical trials cover the entire spectrum of endocrine disorders, with a majority related to the fields of diabetes and obesity.
The trials frequently involve the assessment of novel drugs and combinations of drugs, as well as possible outcomes of existing drugs on the cardio-vascular system and on the renal system.
Many large multinational pharmaceutical companies – including Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk and others – regularly turn to Rambam for their Endocrinology clinical trials, as do Israeli start-ups and researchers from Rambam. The Department also collaborates with researchers around the world.
Rambam’s Endocrinology research is headed by Prof. Naim Shehadeh, who is the President of the Israel Diabetes Association as well as the Director of the Institute of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism and the Diabetes and Obesity Center of Exellance at Rambam Health Care Campus. Prof. Shehadeh has a global reputation for his groundbreaking research on diabetes and obesity. In addition to Prof. Shehadeh, the clinical trials team consists of highly skilled and experienced physicians, nurses and trial coordinators.
The team has an excellent record meeting patient recruitment goals for the clinical trials. Clients also benefit from the fact that all the required equipment and advanced technologies are available within the hospital premises.
