The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Rambam Health Care Campus specializes in reconstructive surgery for congenital defects as well as for major injuries resulting from automobile accidents, industrial accidents, and war. Major burn patients are admitted to the department for medical and surgical treatment that begins in the Intensive Care Unit and continues through immediate coverage and early rehabilitation.
The department handles the entire range of treatments in its field, including congenital defects such as cleft lip and palate, hypospadias, reconstructive surgery after extensive injuries, post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, and removal of malignant skin lesions, including Moh's surgery for relevant situations. In addition, the department performs reconstructive microsurgery in collaboration with other hospital departments, including the Ear Nose and Throat, Oral and Maxillofacial, and Orthopedics departments.
The Department of Plastic Surgery belongs to the Surgery Division and is affiliated with the Technion's Ruth & Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine. The department also treats children hospitalized in the Pediatric Surgery Department, in the best possible environment for them.
