The Department of Pediatric Surgery performs a wide range of operations in children, including, abdominal and chest operations for congenital anomalies, traumatic injuries and tumors, as well as hernia, undescended testicles, and circumcisions. The department specializes in stomach and chest operations using minimally invasive techniques. Some operations, such as those for excessive sweating of the hands, gastroesophageal reflux appendectomies and gall bladder removal, are performed using laparoscopy.
The department has extensive and specialized experience in treating injured children, and is one of the national leaders in surgical treatment of children with tumors. Special emphasis is placed on correcting congenital deformities of the rectum resulting in incontinence or severe constipation. These problems, which also occur without deformities, are diagnosed and treated with preventive measures at the clinic for sphincter muscle control, or with surgery, if required.
