Department of Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology at Rambam Health Care Campus serves as a tertiary referral center for the entire northern half of the country.

The department cares for patients from all sub-specialties: Retina, Cataract, Cornea, Glauocma, Uveitis, Neuro-ophthlmology, Pediatric ophthalmology, and Oculo-plastics. We perform eye surgery and laser treatments for common as well as rare and complex disorders.

Procedures performed include: retina and vitreous surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplants, glaucoma surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and strabismus.

The Department of Ophthalmology utilizes advanced and sophisticated technologies in its field, which enable performing the most accurate and gentle surgical procedures and laser treatments, diagnosis of complex and obscure conditions, and provision of novel and modern therapeutic modalities.

The department's staff takes great pride in the “human” factor. Carmela Benyaminov

Carmela Binyaminov is Head Nurse of the Ophthalmology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus.

Binyaminov is a graduate of the Nursing School in Kiryat Bialik, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the College of Israel, and a Master’s Degree in Health Management and Management of Senior Living Homes from Haifa University. She also trained in ICU work at Rambam Health Care Campus.
