Microbiome Hub

The Microbiome Center is focused on researching the role of the microbiome in health and disease, and developing therapeutic microbiome strategies that can be used for healing unbalanced microbiomes (dysbiosis) in diverse fields of medicine.
The Microbiome Center offers treatment for Clostridioides difficile infections (CDIs) through Fecal Microbiota Transplants (FMTs). In this process, the gut microbiome of healthy individuals is used therapeutically to restore the microbiome of patients suffering from CDI. Stool donors are thoroughly screened for potential transmissible diseases, and the FMT therapy is administered using capsules or colonoscopy.
In addition, we produce varied FMT products for collaborative clinical trials, such as the alleviation of fibromyalgia and IBS symptoms.

The Microbiome Hub is a net of researchers and clinicians, that study the microbial communities that live within the gut, respiratory tract, skin, and other areas of the human body. These trillions of microorganisms have an intricate relationship with the human host and its different systems, constituting a backbone indispensable for the normal functioning of metabolic processes and immune.

These trillions of microorganisms have an intricate relationship with the human host and its different systems, constituting a backbone indispensable for the normal functioning of metabolic processes and immune development.
With the increasing recognition of the importance of the microbiome in human health, the Microbiome Hub plays a critical role in advancing our understanding of this complex and rapidly-evolving medical field. The ultimate purpuse is the translation of knowledge into practical applications that can improve the lives of patients suffering from a wide range of conditions.
Examples are the characterization of microbiomes in selected diseases or conditions, the manipulation of the microbial composition by additives with potential therapeutic capacity, and the transference of whole healthy microbiomes to restore the balance of disrupted microbiomes (dysbiosis).
