Pediatric Orthopedics

The Pediatric Orthopedics Unit is the only center in Northern Israel treating disorders of the musculoskeletal system in children, including trauma to the musculoskeletal system. The unit has extensive experience in repairing skeletal deformities, in limb elongation, early detection and treatment of congenital dislocated hip, and preventive treatment using the Ponseti method for clubfoot. Furthermore, the unit is among the national and world leaders in the Taylor Spatial Frame technology for highly accurate repair of deformities and elongation of the limbs.

The unit's activities are divided into three main areas:

1. Emergency care, provided either in the Emergency Department of Rambam Health Care Campus or Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital;

2. Clinical services, which include treatment of patients referred by their community physicians or intensive care physicians, and patients after hospitalization;

3. Inpatient care, which includes treating children hospitalized in different departments, after treatment in the emergency room and/or after surgery by the senior staff of the unit.

The unit team participates in a number of leading research activities in pediatric orthopedics, including hip pathologies in children, clubfoot, and trauma.
