Rambam Biobank
The Biobank at Rambam collects, stores, and shares biological samples to support advanced medical research in Israel and abroad. It was established in 2014 by Dr. Ronit Almog, Director of the Epidemiology Department and Biobank, as part of MIDGAM - The Israeli Biorepository Network for Research, an initiative of the Israel Ministry of Health.
Our repository contains tissue, blood, plasma, serum, bone marrow, saliva and urine samples from over 12000 patients representing a broad range of diseases: all types of malignancies, neurologic diseases, Covid-19, in addition to healthy donors. By signing the informed consent form, donors agree to the use of their samples and relevant medical information in any legally approved medical study. Clinical data stored in Rambam’s EMR is available to researchers. Samples and data are coded in order to safeguard donors’ privacy.
The Rambam Biobank has contributed samples and data to over 100 studies, promoting the understanding of disease pathogenesis, the development of new diagnostic assays, the discovery of new therapies and personalizing medical treatment.
