Eyal Rubenfeld, just 13 years old, is dealing with cancer. After undergoing a successful bone marrow transplant, he donated his Nintendo to another patient. This simple act of kindness brought great joy to both children.

Last month, on a recent family outing, eight-year-old Harel Goldstein suffered a rare, sudden stroke caused by a clot in his brain stem. Rambam Health Care Campus specialists felt that his chances of recovery were small. “We were in shock; we did not believe that Harel would recover without permanent brain damage.”

Rambam Surgeons Perform Rare Operation on Fetus While Attached to Umbilical Cord

An uncommon surgical procedure, called “EXIT,” enables emergency removal of the fetus from its mother’s uterus, while remaining attached to the umbilical cord and placenta. Only a few such procedures have been performed in Israel, most of them at Rambam Health Care Campus. “The procedure enables delaying the birth and buying additional time in order to treat the fetus before the staff is forced to separate it from the placenta,” explains one of Rambam’s senior gynecologists.

Rambam Named Top Hospital in Israel in National Patient Survey

Rambam Celebrates World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

According to UNESCO, “World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development celebrates not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.” The day was first marked in 2002 and is celebrated every year on May 21.

Rambam Trains Licensed Eastern European Physicians to Work in Israel

Coordinators of a program to train licensed Eastern European physicians believe the program could potentially alleviate Israel’s physician and hospital intern shortage, while also saving on the time and costs involved to train more new doctors. The cost of medical studies to the State of Israel is estimated to be approximately NIS 750,000-NIS 1,000,000 per medical student over six years of medical studies while the estimated cost of Rambam’s course is approximately NIS 50,000 per physician.
