Doctors from Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital and Rabat Children’s Hospital met virtually for the first time to share knowledge and experience, forging professional ties to facilitate collaboration between the two pediatric medical facilities.

A new clinic is the first of its kind in Northern Israel, providing treatment for narrowing carotid arteries and stroke prevention that was, until now, unavailable in this part of the country.

Participants from the “Ninja Israel” television show are stepping up to provide encouragement to young patients at Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital, and even sent birthday wishes to a ten-year-old fan who is currently receiving cancer treatment at Rambam Health Care Campus.

Israel currently has the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate in the world, and more than 4,000 of Rambam’s approximately 5,300 employees have already received the first dose of Pfizer vaccines.

Rambam Health Care Campus has provided comprehensive, dedicated care for more than 1,200 COVID 19 patients since receiving its first such patient in March 2020. Despite the high rate of success in treating the virus, some patients continue to suffer from ongoing health issues and require follow-up treatment, even after being released from the hospital. As the international vaccination campaign gains momentum, sources at Rambam caution: “COVID-19 will be with us for quite some time and we need to deal with its long-term consequences.”

Rambam’s Pulmonology Institute has recently implemented an advanced system that acquires minimally invasive biopsies in areas of the lungs previously unreachable without surgery. The new technology collects multiple biopsy samples accurately, quickly, and painlessly, with no incisions.

As the world prepares to say goodbye to 2020, here at Rambam Health Care Campus, we decided to take a look back over the activities and milestones from one of the most memorable years in recent history. Although we were busier than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital’s regular work continued as usual. We thought you might enjoy this overview through to December 27, 2020.

Rambam Health Care Campus has gained a great deal of experience in treating strokes, with a focus on those that require invasive intervention through cerebral catheterization. However, a phenomenon presented at Rambam in recent days managed to surprise the doctors, especially in light of the fact that not one, but two such patients were rushed to Rambam within two days. The phenomenon is so rare that the Director of Rambam's Department of Vascular Surgery and Transplantation had never seen it before.

Despite the pandemic, Haifa is celebrating the annual Holiday of Holidays – honoring religious celebrations that fall in December. In conjunction with these celebrations, Rambam Health Care Campus recently hosted the Kites of Hope event for survivors of pediatric cancer, who got to make their own kites and decorate them with messages of hope.

The vaccination campaign for Rambam Health Care Campus employees started yesterday, with senior administration the first to be vaccinated. Approximately 800 employees received the vaccination yesterday, and they will be followed by thousands more over the next few weeks.

A couple whose unborn baby’s life was suddenly in jeopardy experienced a Hanukkah miracle when physicians at Rambam saved her life.

At the suggestion of her midwife, an expectant mother danced through her labor pains and experienced a smooth delivery.

Rambam Health Care Campus held a series of events to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women—marked on November 25th, raising awareness of an issue that has become more prominent during the lockdowns and isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
