His Ankle replaces Knee Function After Rare Surgery at Rambam

After amputating his knee and mid leg, Jacob Abu Abbas underwent a rare operation at Rambam, fusing his ankle to his upper leg, only backwards. His new "knee" and a prosthesis should restore full ambulatory independence.

2017 Maimonides Best Published Original Research Prize

Rambam Physician Discovers New Cause of Vision Loss in Diabetics

​​Professor Shehadeh, Director of Rambam’s Diabetes Institute, found that vision is impaired in hyperglycemic people exposed to certain light wavelengths. Special eyeglasses for diabetic patients will be tested.
