We Came to Banish the Darkness: Candle Lighting at Rambam

The staff of Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, gathered in the main hospital building, the Sammy Ofer Tower, today for the ceremonial lighting of the Hanukka candelabra for the festival’s fifth day. This year’s ceremony was unlike those of years past, as the country is still shrouded in the darkness of the tragedy of October 7 and the ongoing war. Rachel Tzarfati mother of Ofir z”l and Yelena Shmeklov mother of Alexei z”l, both victims of the massacre, participated in the candle lighting ceremony. Today’s message was clear: Let us bring light from the darkness.

Rambam Trains Nurses and Volunteers for an Unprecedented Number of Trauma Injuries

Should the conflict on Israel’s northern border escalate, Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, the only level-one trauma center in the region, could see an unprecedented number of trauma patients.  Nurses from every hospital department will need to cope with a continuous flow of hundreds of new patients.  Ongoing training sessions are equipping our nurses and volunteers with these specialized skills.

New Development of “Smart” Heat Patch: Saving Lives in the Battlefield

Lee Shahaf, an occupational therapist at Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, has been serving as a casualty officer since she was called up for reserves at the beginning of the war. Now her role at Rambam is two-fold: volunteering as a bone-marrow donor and, most notably, becoming a lifesaving match for a woman in need.

Worldwide, the international Jewish and Israeli communities watched in horror as the terrorist organization, Hamas massacred 1,400 civilians and kidnapped more than 240. One month later, the war is having a tremendous impact on the healthcare system with many medical professionals serving in the military reserves.
