Professor Richard L. Popp, MD
Rambam Health Care Campus is honored and proud to confer the Rambam Award for the Year 2012 upon Professor Richard L. Popp in recognition of his pioneering technique of applying ultrasound technology to detect heart diseases and in acknowledgement of his special commitment to medical education and training in Israel.
A clinical cardiologist, Dr. Popp serves as Professor of Medicine (Emeritus) in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Stanford University's School of Medicine and as Director of Ethics and Policy for Stanford's Biodesign Innovation Fellowship. Professor Popp is a Venture Partner at Advanced Technology Ventures, evaluating and targeting investments in the healthcare field, and was Principal Medical Consultant for both Agilent Labs and HP Labs.
Dedicated to public service, Professor Popp has held several senior positions, including Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Stanford University School of Medicine, President of the American College of Cardiology, and Chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine's Cardiovascular Diseases Subspecialty Board.
Rambam Health Care Campus is especially grateful for Professor Popp's major role in the administration of the Feldman Family Foundation Visiting Professor Program at Stanford University School of Medicine. This program has been a key element in the career of many medical leaders in Israeli hospitals and has supported numerous graduates of the program at Rambam.
On the basis of all the aforementioned, the Nomination Committee has found Professor Richard L. Popp eligible for the 2012 Rambam Award.
