Rambam Health Care Campus was recently awarded international accreditation for excellence in the safety and quality of its healthcare services.
The accreditation, given by US-based Joint Commission International (JCI), the recognized independent leader in international health care accreditation, attests to Rambam’s compliance with the most stringent standards for hospitals in the western world.
The evaluation was performed by an interdisciplinary team from JCI, composed of five professionals from the medical, nursing, and administrative fields, sent from the US for this purpose. Over five days, the team conducted in-depth investigations into various departments in the hospital, checking compliance with a broad range of parameters related to quality and safety of treatment and the treatment environment. These included infection prevention, infrastructure, and safety for staff and patients, control and safety of purchasing, delivery, storage and other logistical procedures, as well as teaching, research and publication activities, among others.
The evaluation team gave Rambam a score of 97.5%—an exceptionally high achievement that was noted with satisfaction by the JCI team leader, Dr. Paolo Nevo.
Rambam prepared for the accreditation process over a period of two years, during which the different hospital departments and staff implemented comprehensive upgrading of procedures to comply with international standards, under the guidance of a special committee appointed for the purpose.
Professor Rafi Beyar, Rambam’s CEO and Executive Director, observed that receiving the prestigious accreditation is a direct reflection of the hospital staff’s teamwork and professionality. “The accreditation we received goes to each and every member of our staff. Together we will continue as leaders in providing excellent medical care for our patients from Israel and around the world—and leave our mark on the world in the fields of medical care, innovation, research, technology, and staff development, while always keeping the individual at the heart of every effort.”
