Dr. Netanel Horowitz, hospital Deputy Director, opened the ceremony with heartfelt words about how reality has changed, the fractures in Israeli society, and the need to heal divisions. He also acknowledged the courage of soldiers and civilians. “Rambam is a mirror of Israeli society. Here, we have learned to work together despite our differences,” he said.

Anat Angrest, mother of Matan Angrest who was abducted from his tank on October 7th then shared her family’s painful story. Matan was thankfully released under the October 2025 hostage release agreement. Captain Daniel Peretz, Staff Sergeant Itay Chen, and Staff Sergeant Tomer Leibovitz were killed in the battle at Nahal Oz, during which their tank was hit.

We remember those we lost and hold their families in our hearts.
