Dr. Sol J. Barer and Mrs. Meri Barer
Rambam Health Care Campus is honored to confer the Rambam Award for 2013 upon Dr. and Mrs. Sol Barer in recognition of their devotion to the health and welfare of children and adults and to the betterment of communities around the world, and furthermore, for their leadership role on the Board of Directors of numerous educational and health care organizations.
Dr. Sol J. Barer and Mrs. Meri Barer have dedicated their time and talents to community volunteerism in order to promote their personal vision––the making of a better world.
In 1986, Dr. Barer founded the Celgene Corporation, an innovative biopharmaceutical company that has impacted cancer treatment globally, and that bears witness to Dr. Barer’s scientific and business acumen.
Dr. and Mrs. Barer’s contributions to the Unit of Pediatric Neurology in the new Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital, and to Rambam’s purchase of the world’s most advanced medical equipment, have promoted technological and medical advances at Rambam and are helping us realize our goal of creating the future of medicine.
The couple’s infinite commitment to children has been expressed at Rambam through generous donations to infrastructure development and to the welfare of hospitalized kids and their families.
Moreover, Mrs. Barer does important work as a Board Member of the American Friends of Rambam.
Rambam esteems Sol and Meri Barer for extraordinary generosity of heart; they have assisted so many at Rambam Health Care Campus, and are steadfast supporters of our vision: to provide advanced medical treatment and to improve life quality and expectancy in Israel and the world.
In acknowledgment of all the aforesaid, the Prize Committee has found Dr. Sol J. Barer and Mrs. Meri Barer deserving of the Rambam Award for 2013.
