The 2011 Rambam Award is granted to Mr. Nochi Dankner, Chairman of the IDB Group, for his extensive contribution and achievements for the benefit of the community in Israel since the Second Lebanon War and in particular for hundreds of projects initiated and led by him in the Galilee and the Negev in the fields of education, health, welfare, culture and sports.
IDB's great path for the benefit of society and communities began in the midst of the war, on July 16, 2006, when Nochi Dankner visited the bombarded shelters in the North.
Faced with the distress of residents and the neutralization of systems of dayto- day life, Nochi initiated distribution of 140,000 food parcels to confrontation line residents who took refuge in shelters and to soldiers in Lebanon and the Golan Heights. During the war, Nochi and the IDB team conducted daily visits to the battlefront, held board meetings of all. group companies in the bombarded towns and promised the residents of the north to stand right by their side in times of peace as well.
From that day onwards, Nochi has been dedicating a great deal of his time and energy to initiate, execute and personally lead hundreds of projects for the benefit of
the community and to implement his vision of combining business and Zionism.
Since July 2006 until March 2011, the companies of the IDB Group, under his leadership, committed and contributed over 400 million NIS to community projects, of which approximately half are in the field of education, including the distribution of 18 thousand scholarships to students from the Negev and the Galilee.
These welcome steps did not pass over the Rambam Medical Center. As the strategic medical center of the north, the .hospital benefits from the initiatives led by Nochi Dankner and the IDB Group to build and expand the fortified and modern Department of Emergency Medicine; and the renewal of the Department of Cardiac Surgery. Nochi Dankner (56), son of Zahava and Issac, is married to Orly with whom he has three children: Rona, Omer and Dana.
By virtue of his business leadership, which is always intertwined with a profound perception of a patriotic vocation, Nochi motivates other organizations, institutions and individuals to community involvement activities in Israel, and alongside IDB's team and Nochi's family, they engage wholeheartedly in providing assistance and help.
On the basis of all the aforementioned the nomination committee has found Mr. Nochi Dankner, eligible for the 2011 Rambam Award.
