Mrs. Relly and Mr. Brent Dibner
Rambam Health Care Campus is honored to confer the 2014 Rambam Award upon Ms. Relly and Mr. Brent Dibner in recognition of their prodigious philanthropic contributions to further literary, historical, and scientific research and provision of humanitarian aid worldwide via the Dibner Foundation, and with profound gratitude for their love and commitment to the people of Israel, particularly in Haifa, expressed through their generous support of the Technion-Rambam Functional Brain Imaging Facility, Rambam’s Urgent Care and Trauma Center, acquisition of essential medical imaging and internal medicine equipment, and gifting of the Hematology-Oncology Outpatient Clinic in the Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital at Rambam.
The Dibners’ love of Israel and commitment to philanthropy is vast. In 1973 Brent began working at the Israel Shipyards. Their only diplomed naval architect, he helped complete the Israeli Naval Ship Keshet just prior to the Yom Kippur War. Brent first encountered Rambam when visiting a wounded friend toward the end of that war. Coincidentally, that friend’s mother-in-law introduced Brent to Relly.
Brent and Relly married in 1975 and relocated to the US in 1977. As a team, they carry a deep sense of responsibility for humankind, expressed via the Dibner Foundation, which has benefitted individuals and communities worldwide. Their mutual love and appreciation for Israel and particularly Haifa is reflected by their decades-long commitment to science, education, research, and medicine. Almost every patient treated at Rambam has benefitted from the generosity of the Dibners.
In acknowledgement of all the aforesaid, the Prize Committee has found Ms. Relly and Mr. Brent Dibner deserving of the 2014 Rambam Award.
