With grateful thanks to a generous funding contribution, the Herta & Paul Amir Department of Internal Medicine -A, at Rambam HCC, recently opened its doors. The year-long renovation, saw the existing premises transformed into a state-of-the art, medical facility.
Multi-disciplinary medical teams in the Department, treat patients suffering from cardiovascular disease, pulmonary-, gastrointestinal-, renal- and other infectious and serious diseases. Amongst others, students from the Technion - The Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine and medical students from abroad, in the clinical stage of their degree, are trained in the Department.
In addition to the Department of Internal Medicine-A, there are five other internal medicine departments, providing world-class care at Rambam.
Rambam has a long-standing friendship with Mrs. Herta Amir and her late husband, Paul – of blessed memory. The couple were recipients of the 2014 Rambam Award which acknowledges the outstanding contributions of individuals to medicine, science, technology, leadership, and humanity. It was through their generosity that Rambam was able to renovate and upgrade the Department of Internal Medicine-A as well as various other hospital departments in previous years.
Staff and patients returned to an ultra-modern facility that meets the highest, international medical standards.
Dr. Ayelet Raz Pasteur, Director of the Department said, “Twenty-five years ago - a young resident at that time, I was fascinated by internal medicine in general, and specifically the work being done in the Department of Internal Medicine-A. I was a medical student the last time the Department was renovated and I am thrilled to have witnessed the transition! The Department is modern, bright and airy, and meets all the medical needs of our patients. I am most grateful to Mrs. Herta Amir for her magnanimous contribution which enabled Rambam to turn its vision of providing the best internal medical treatment to the residents of Northern Israel, into reality.”
