Children of Peace: 23 Years after Rabin Assassination

Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated 23 years ago today. Rambam Health Care Campus honored his memory via special activities in the pediatric dialysis unit with children of diverse ethnicities and religions.

For Noy Sol Azulai, age 19 from Kibbutz Afek, Rambam Health Care Campus is a familiar place. After undergoing life-saving head surgeries there, she returned to Rambam once again – this time while doing her National Service in the Department of Pediatrics B. This week another emotional circle was closed an exhibition of drawings she created as part of her rehabilitation process was opened to the public.

The GPS of Orthopedic Surgery

The use of new technology combining optical navigation, computer processing, and special positioning sensors used airplanes for space orientation recently entered the operating room at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa. The surgical procedure, which has been carried out to date approximately 50 times globally, was first performed in Israel during hip replacement surgery with the help of Swiss development which, according to specialists, can significantly improve surgical accuracy and results.

Rambam HCC and Georgia Institute of Technology Establish Accelerator for Israeli Medical Technologies in Atlanta, Georgia

On October 11, 2018 a memorandum of understanding was signed for cooperation between Rambam Health Care Campus and the Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI) at Georgia’s Institute of Technology at a special ceremony held in Atlanta, Georgia. The outcome of this partnership will be a medical technology incubator for Israeli-based companies. This cooperative effort was made possible thanks to the assistance of the Israeli consulate in the southeastern United States and the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce (CONEX).

Rambam: 16-year-old Girl Requires Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy after Smoking Hookah Pipe

Last week a 16-year-old girl was rushed to Rambam Health Care Campus for blood poisoning—the result of a “fun” evening with friends smoking a hookah. Thankfully she was successfully treated in a barometric pressure chamber.

New Year, New Underground Radiation Therapy Wing, New Construction—Benefitting the People of Northern Israel

With the start of the Jewish New Year, this month also marks the start of a new construction boom at Rambam Health Care Campus. Starting it off is completion of a new Radiation Therapy Wing of the Joseph Fishman Oncology Center. Construction is also in full swing for the new Eyal Ofer Heart Hospital and will commence shortly on the Helmsley Health Discovery Tower.

Rambam Disaster Response Experts go into the Field to Treat Psychological Trauma

For the first time in Israel, Rambam inaugurated a psychological trauma unit in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, expanding the basket of health treatments for the northern population. Services include identifying trauma victims in the Emergency Room and treating them during and after hospitalization to strengthen their resilience to emergency situations.

Three Years after Carmel Tunnel Bus Crash, Most Severely Wounded Victim Meets the Caregivers Who Saved her Life

Staff in Rambam’s General Intensive Care Unit are used to caring for patients with the most severe, life-threatening conditions. Frequently, they also see these same patients on their path to recovery. But a short time ago, the excitement in the unit was particularly contagious—Natalie Ben-Moshe, one of the most seriously injured people in the horrific Carmel Tunnel bus crash, returned to Rambam with her parents to visit the medical team that saved her life.
