Mr. Ricardo Barros, Brazil's Minister of Health visited Rambam Health Care Campus this month. With him was a large diplomatic delegation of senior government officials, hospital directors, and the CEOs of pharmaceutical companies from Brazil. The visit was an initiative of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Rambam's executive leadership presented an overview of Rambam's activities as the tertiary referral hospital of Northern Israel, with an emphasis on trauma treatment, cutting edge research, technology, and medical innovation. In addition, the Minster and his delegation visited Rambam's shock trauma room, the Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital, and the Sammy Ofer Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital.

Minister Barros expressed a deep interest in Rambam's trauma services and preparedness for emergencies, a field in which Rambam is considered a world leader.

In light of Rambam's involvement with MindUp, Haifa’s Digital Health Incubator, and the innovative technologies available at Rambam, the delegation was also intrigued by the different ways Rambam encourages innovation, invention, and medical entrepreneurship.
