Rambam is the only level one trauma center in Northern Israel. Hence, as hostilities in the north have intensified, the hospital has been caring for an increasing number of soldiers.

Accompanied by Rambam's Director General, Professor Michael Halberthal, and Deputy Directors, Dr. Michal Mekel and Professor Yael Shahor-Meyouhas, Gallant met with the hospitalized soldiers and their families. Gallant spoke personally with each soldier, offering his support and wishing each one a speedy recovery. Gallant also took the opportunity to tour the hospital’s Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital (FUEH), which is integral to the safety of patients and healthcare providers during times of extreme emergency.

Since the war began, Rambam’s 2,000-bed FUEH has been at the forefront of medical care. It is equipped to provide a full range of medical services treating both soldiers and civilians for injuries and facilitating safe standard medical care and procedures. Over the past two weeks, hundreds of patients were treated in the FUEH including patients from other regional hospitals. The FUEH is fully equipped with medical supplies and other essentials, capable of operating for three days in case of a severe emergency where access to the surface is restricted.
