Several Rambam Health Care Campus physicians took part in a fascinating webinar held earlier this week, discussing the impact of Stanford University’s Biodesign program and Rambam’s Biodesign program on global collaboration and Israeli innovation. The event was sponsored by AFORAM and the CICC, and panelists included Professor Rafi Beyar, Professor Emeritus at Rambam and at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology Dr. Yona Vaisbuch, the Program and Clinical Director for Rambam Biodesign and an attending physician in Rambam’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck; Dr. Lloyd Minor, the Dean of Stanford School of Medicine; Dr. Richard Popp, Professor Emeritus at Stanford School of Medicine. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Josh Makower, Co-founder and Advisor, Stanford Biodesign.

The panelists provided insights and practical information about the two Biodesign programs and described their personal experiences, stressing, among other things, the importance of the connection between medicine and engineering. In addition, the webinar also highlighted the cooperation between Stanford and Rambam, and the potential that exists for groundbreaking medical advances as a result of this collaborative innovation. Notes Professor Beyar, “The Rambam - Stanford collaboration is beyond the Biodesign program. There is much room for joint innovation, especially during this COVID-19 year.”
