Rambam Health Care Campus particpated in a University of Haifa ceremony in Toronto this week, honoring cancer researcher, Dr. Michael Baker, with an honorary PhD.
Professor Rafi Beyar, Director of Rambam Health Care Campus, and Dr. Miki Halberthal, Deputy Director of Rambam Health Care Campus, participated in a ceremony held this week in Toronto, Canada, in which the University of Haifa granted an honorary PhD to Dr. Michael Baker – one of the world’s most important medical personnel – a cancer researcher whose discoveries assisted with better understanding of leukemia and other types of cancer. Dr. Baker is a world-renowned, valued, and decorated researcher.
This festive evening was held in front of a packed hall filled with leaders from the Canadian Jewish community, researchers, colleagues, friends, and relatives. Dr. Baker chose to support the joint project between University of Haifa and Rambam Health Care Campus – “Helmsley Health Discovery Tower,” by designating a portion of the proceeds from the evening for this initiative. Helmsley Tower will be established on the Rambam campus, is unprecedented in its scope, and will include medical research and biomedical industries as well as Rambam, University of Haifa, and Technion facilities.
