Australian Friends of Rambam held its second annual Rambam Ride to raise awareness of and funding for cardiovascular care at Rambam Health Care Campus.
Approximately 70 cyclists took participated in Australian Friends of Rambam’s second annual Rambam Ride – Cycling from the Heart event, which took place in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday, November 17th, in cooperation with Maccabi Cycling Club Victoria. The ride was held to promote awareness of groundbreaking research dealing with prediction and prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in children and young adults that is currently being done at Rambam Health Care Campus. The Ride was opened by Member of Parliament David Southwick, and was also attended by Maccabi Victoria President Brian Swersky.
Despite the rain, the cyclists gathered near the Bialik School to register, and then began moving towards the route along the Yarra River and out into the countryside. Thanks to John Gould, President of Maccabi Cycling Club Victoria, the riders enjoyed coffee at the end of the course.
Several of the participants raised funds prior to the ride on a website designated for that purpose. One of these individuals was Adrian Banducci, a member of the local Christian community and big supporter of Israel.
Noted MP Southwick, "The message conveyed to us from Rambam via this event is particularly significant, as it focuses on health—especially heart disease—and the importance of creating awareness and working towards prevention."
