A Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony held at Rambam Health Care Campus honored Israel’s wounded and fallen, as well as their families.

As one of the many holiday-related events taking place at Rambam Health Care Campus during the month of December, a candle-lighting ceremony was held there to mark the fifth night of Chanukah. The ceremony was dedicated to bereaved families, the fallen, victims of terror attacks, and IDF casualties.
The event was organized by Chabad representatives to Rambam, led by Rabbi Shmulik Turkov. Attendees included representatives of the hospital administration, hospital staff, and visitors.
The theme for the event was “Light will Win”, and the guest of honor was Bruria Grenadier, the mother of the late Lt. Elad Grenadier (who fell in 2002 in an encounter with terrorists in the town of Emanuel) and the wife of the late Dr. Ehud Grenadier (one of Israel’s leading catheterization specialists), who passed away a decade ago. The Grenadier family and Rambam have a close relationship, and every year a prize is awarded in Elad’s name to promising young researchers in the field of interventional cardiology.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bruria Grenadier said, "As we know, this holiday has a number of names: the festival of lights, the holiday of miracles, and the holiday of heroes – named after the heroism of the Maccabees. My son Elad was a commander in the IDF who defended our homeland knowing that we have no other country, and that we must protect it at all costs – even at the cost of life. This is heroism. We are all Maccabees. They are the light that will last forever. Everyone is a small light, and together, we are all a strong light."
