Dr. Daniel Kurnick is the Director of Clinical Pharmacology in the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Section at Rambam Health Care Campus. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Pharmacology at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and Adjunct Research Assistant Professor at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Kurnik immigrated to Israel from Germany, where he completed his medical studies at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen. He completed residencies in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology at the Sheba Medical Center, Ramat Gan, and was then granted a MSD International Fellowship in clinical pharmacology at the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He remained at Vanderbilt as a Research Assistant Professor before returning to the Sheba Medical Center as a senior physician and researcher in the Department of Medicine A and the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology. Since 2013, he is the Director of Clinical Pharmacology at Rambam.
Dr. Kurnik serves as consultant regarding questions concerning adverse drug reactions, individualization of drug therapy, and drug approval, both for Rambam’s patient population and the hospital administration. He teaches medical students, pharmacists, medical residents, and nurses, and serves as supervisor for doctoral candidates. His research interests include personalized medicine, pharmacogenetics, drug safety, and pharmacoepidemiology. Dr. Kurnik has published more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, and has won grant support and awards for his research both nationally and internationally.
