Together they formed the successful real estate company Amir Development.

Over the years they founded an international foundation that supports educational and cultural institutions around the world, largely in Israel, and particularly in the city of Haifa, which holds a special place in Paul’s heart.

The Amir’s generosity via the Herta and Paul Amir Pediatric Cardiology Institute in the Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital at Rambam has facilitated the continued development of quality pediatric cardiac care at the national and international levels, bringing hope to the hearts of the children of Haifa and Northern Israel. The Amir's continued their magnanimous support of Rambam with the donation of the Herta and Paul Amir Neurosurgical ICU, which opened in 2017.

In 2014, Rambam Health Care Campus was proud and honored to bestow the Rambam Award upon Mrs. Herta and Mr. Paul Amir, in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the arts and education, and of their leadership in the Los Angeles Jewish community, and with gratitude for their support of Rambam.
