Publication Date:

Born in Mexico, Dr. Genaro Levinson forged a deep and enduring connection with Haifa in the early 1970s, when he completed his medical residency at Rothschild Hospital—now Bnei Zion Medical Center—nestled on the slopes of Mount Carmel. It was in this vibrant city that he met his beloved wife, and together they built a family with three sons.

Though the couple dreamed of settling permanently in Israel, life led them back to Monterrey, Mexico. There, Dr. Levinson’s vision for elevating healthcare took root. With a blend of medical expertise, social awareness, and entrepreneurial drive, he acquired a modest 30-bed facility that would eventually blossom into OCA Hospital, one of Mexico’s most prestigious private tertiary-care institutions

Despite his success abroad, Dr. Levinson’s heart never left Haifa. His commitment to advancing medicine echoes through his impactful involvement with Rambam. His legacy is defined not by praise, but by purpose, and this unwavering commitment makes him a force of transformation—in Mexico, Israel, and at Rambam.
In acknowledgment of his notable commitment to healthcare and his fellow citizens, the Rambam Awards Committee is honored to bestow the 2025 Rambam Award upon Genaro Levinson.
Dr. Levinson was unable to attend the 2025 Rambam Summit and award ceremony in Haifa. During a recent visit to Mexico, Prof. Halberthal had the honor of presenting the Rambam Award to him in person.
