Dr. Flechter graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was resident in internal medicine at Bernardino Rivadavia Hospital, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in clinical oncology at A. Roffo Institute of Oncology, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Oncology Hospital of Buenos Aires Marie Curie, Argentina. He completed his residency in clinical oncology at Rambam Heath Care Campus, Haifa, Israel.
Dr. Flechter was specialized in supportive and palliative care in cancer at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York, USA, and assisted at courses of palliative and supportive care from Oxford University, and from Ben Gurion University in collaboration of UJA Federation of New York and Israel Association of Palliative Care.
Dr. Flechter has actively participated in a wide range of clinical research in the area of supportive care in cancer, breast cancer, gastro-intestinal cancer, and lung cancer. His main research interest is in management and treatment of cancer pain, cancer related symptoms, cancer treatment related side effects, cancer survivors and quality of life. Dr. Flechter received a Ayssa Schefter Prize for Excellence and Human Contribution in Oncology. Dr. Flechter is member of national organizations as Israel Medical Association (IMA), The Israeli Society for Clinical Oncology and Radiation Therapy (ISCORT) and Working Group for Palliative and Supportive Care in Cancer (ISCORT), and international organizations as American Cancer Society (ASCO), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (NCHPP), Association of Radiotherapy and Oncology of the Mediterranean Area (AROME), Sociedad Espanola de Cuidados Paliativos (SECPAL) and Palliative Drugs Association. United Kingdom. Dr. Flechter is an active promoter of supportive and palliative care in cancer with his participation in national and international forums, and with lectures for medicine students at Rappaport Faculty of Medicine and Nurses School at Technion University, as well as open community forums.
