The Israeli NavyThe Israeli Navy

For nearly 80 years, the Israeli Navy has defended Israel’s coastlines and carried out missions far from home. From a modest fleet in Haifa to one of the most advanced maritime forces in the world, they have stood as a pillar of Israel’s security.
During the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Navy extended its mission from national defense to public health.
Navy personnel assisted Rambam in the important task of preparing Rambam’s Fortified underground emergency hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Transforming it to the largest COVID-19 facility in Israel.
.
On the Black Sabbath of October 7, 2023, as terrorists attempted a sea-borne attack near Zikim, naval forces acted decisively, intercepting most attacks and eliminating the terrorists.
Even while defending the nation, hundreds of Navy personnel again turned to aid Rambam—preparing its Fortified Underground facility for patients. They laid miles of cabling, transported vital supplies, secured the premises, and kept critical systems running.
This same courageous commitment was repeated in October 2024 and June 2025 when the facility was activated and patients were transferred underground.
From defending the nation’s shores to aiding communities in crisis, the Israeli Navy has shown that service extends far beyond the battlefield. Guided by Vice Admiral David Saar Salama, Rear Admiral Eli Soholitzky, and Colonel Stav Cohen, the Israeli Navy’s actions at Rambam are one chapter in a broader story of alliance, responsibility, devotion and dedication to the people of Israel
In recognition of their valor, service, and enduring commitment to defense, health, and well-being of the people of Israel, the Honorary Awards Committee is proud and honored to bestow the 2025 Rambam Award upon the Israeli Navy.
