Dr. Tali Garin-Shkolnik is a physician-scientist specializing in inflammatory skin diseases, rare diseases, gene therapy, and translational medicine. She currently serves as a Senior Physician Researcher at Rambam Health Care Campus.
Dr. Garin-Shkolnik received her MD degree with honors from the Faculty of Medicine at Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2000. She was later trained in internal medicine at Sourasky Medical Center. She completed her dermatology residency at Rabin Medical Center and since 2025 she is a senior dermatologist at the Dermatology department at Rambam Health Care Campus.
In addition to her clinical career, Dr. Garin-Shkolnik has a strong passion for scientific research for understanding the underlying mechanisms of disease. Her scientific interests focus on translating discoveries in cellular and molecular pathways into innovative therapeutic approaches for inflammatory, genetic, and rare diseases. She completed her PhD at the Faculty of Molecular Genetics of the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2010, where her research focused on transcriptional regulation of inflammatory and metabolic pathways in relation to the metabolic syndrome.
Her current research focuses on inflammatory skin disorders, rare genetic diseases, neurogenetic disorders, and advanced therapeutic approaches including gene editing and gene therapy. Dr. Garin-Shkolnik leads and collaborates on translational research programs aimed at developing innovative therapies for severe and currently untreatable diseases. She is currently the principal investigator and project coordinator of an international gene-editing program targeting GRIN2B-related neurodevelopmental disorders.
Dr. Garin-Shkolnik has authored scientific publications in leading international journals and is the inventor of a patented therapeutic approach targeting inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis. Her work bridges basic science, clinical dermatology, and advanced therapeutic development, with a strong emphasis on translating scientific discoveries into meaningful treatments for patients.
In addition to her research activities, Dr. Garin-Shkolnik is actively involved in clinical dermatology and clinical trials, as Chief Principal Investigator for Clinical Trials in Dermatology at KSM Research and Innovation Center.
