Department of Ophthalmology

Dr. Waseem Nasser is a resident in the Department of Ophthalmology. His research focusses on understanding the processes of tissue recovery from stem cell loss. More specifically, his work examines the cellular dynamics and molecular pathways upon total stem cell loss or mutation in the adult cornea.

 

Dr. Waseem Nasser received his MD and PhD degrees from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, Haifa, Israel (2021). Afterwards, he started his residency at the Department of Ophthalmology at Rambam Health Care Campus, Haifa (2022).

 

Dr. Nasser has several publications in peer-review journals, and has presented at numerous international professional meetings. He is deeply interested in understanding the impact of genetic and acquired insults on stem cell function and regenerative capacity utilizing the cornea as a research model.
