CRIR - Clinical Research Institute at Rambam

CRIR

The Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (CRIR). An Open, Collaborative Platform for Hospital‑Based Biomedical Discovery
The Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (CRIR) is a hospital‑embedded research platform designed to enable biomedical discovery at scale. Inspired by leading global models of open and collaborative science, CRIR operates on the principle that transformative medical research emerges when clinical insight, scientific leadership, and shared infrastructure are brought together within a single enabling ecosystem.
At the heart of CRIR is its community of investigators. The Institute is built around its members, principal investigators (PIs) who lead independent research laboratories and centers of excellence.

These physician‑scientists and researchers define the scientific vision, drive innovation, and anchor CRIR’s research excellence. CRIR exists to empower this community by providing the infrastructure, professional support, and collaborative environment required for ambitious, high‑impact research.

A Platform That Enables Science
CRIR is not a traditional research unit but an enabling platform. It provides centralized resources, professional research support, and shared capabilities that allow investigators and clinical teams to focus on scientific and clinical questions rather than administrative or structural barriers. This model lowers the threshold for participation in research while supporting depth, rigor, and scale for established PIs and emerging investigators alike.
CRIR supports the full research lifecycle, from early‑stage idea development and study design to regulatory processes, execution, and dissemination, transforming individual research efforts into a coordinated institutional capability.

Open, Collaborative, and Cross‑Disciplinary
Aligned with Rambam’s vision as an integrated medical campus, CRIR promotes open collaboration across disciplines, departments, and professional roles. By connecting PIs, clinicians, and research teams within a shared framework, the Institute fosters cross‑fertilization of ideas and accelerates translational discovery.

Translational Impact at Scale
CRIR places strong emphasis on translational research that bridges bedside observations with scientific discovery and real‑world implementation. By centering on its PI community and embedding research within the hospital environment, CRIR accelerates the generation of knowledge, technologies, and insights that improve patient care and advance biomedical innovation.

Vision
CRIR’s long‑term vision is to position Rambam as a model for hospital‑based, platform‑driven research, where a strong community of independent investigators is supported by shared infrastructure and collective purpose, enabling biomedical discovery and impact at scale.
