The Caspi Lab

Cardiovascular Precision Medicine

Principal Investigator: Dr. Oren Caspi

The Laboratory for Cardiovascular Precision Medicine is focused on identifying novel insights and therapies for cardiovascular diseases. Our research combines in-vitro and in-vivo disease models using iPSCs derived cardiovascular cells and organoids with high throughput screening platforms. The innovative platforms allow to decipher disease mechanisms, identify therapeutic targets and develop drug leads. Our research focuses on cardio-oncology as well as acquired and genetic cardiomyopathies.

Dr. Oren Caspi

Dr. Oren Caspi is the head of the advanced heart failure program in Rambam Health Care Campus and a principal investigator at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and the Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (CRIR).

Dr. Caspi earned his M.D. with honors from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 2003. He conducted his Ph.D. studies in the laboratory of Professor Lior Gepstien, focusing on strategies for myocardial regeneration using human stem cells. In his studies, he was among the pioneers to demonstrate the ability of human stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes to improve myocardial function in the infarcted myocardium and established a technology for forming 3D human vascularized cardiac tissues. For these studies, he was awarded the Zigler Prize for Regenerative Medicine as well as the Neufeld and the Grenadier awards.
