Pediatric Orthopedics

Pediatric Orthopedic Unit

The Pediatric Orthopedic Unit serves as a premier national center and a hub of clinical excellence for the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries in children and adolescents.

We believe that children are not "small adults". Their care requires a unique approach, specialized equipment, and dedicated expertise designed to protect and support a child’s natural growth potential.

Our unit provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary therapeutic umbrella. We are internationally recognized for our extensive experience in correcting complex skeletal deformities, advanced limb lengthening techniques, managing neuromuscular disorders (such as Cerebral Palsy), and pioneering pediatric sports medicine and arthroscopy.

Our Areas of Expertise

  • Trauma Care: We provide 24/7 comprehensive management for fractures and complex injuries, from initial emergency room care through hospitalization, surgery, and outpatient follow-up.
  • Deformity Correction & Limb Lengthening: Specializing in Ponseti casting for Clubfoot, minimally invasive "guided growth" procedures, advanced external fixation systems, and cutting-edge internal magnetic lengthening nails.
  • Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy: Advanced arthroscopic and open procedures for ligament reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair in the knee, hip, and ankle, as well as patellar stabilization and hip labral repair.
  • Neuromuscular Excellence: Specialized care and rehabilitation for children and young adults living with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and various muscular disorders.
  • Hip Preservation: Expert surgical intervention for hip and pelvic deformities, including labral repairs, using both open and arthroscopic techniques. The service is provided both for children and adults.

By blending clinical excellence with world-class research, we ensure every patient receives the most advanced, safe, and effective care, delivered with the personal sensitivity and support your family deserves throughout the healing journey

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Care

To ensure the highest level of specialized care, certain sub-specialties are managed in collaboration with other expert units within Rambam’s Orthopedic Division. This collaborative model ensures that every patient—child or young adult—receives the most precise treatment from the leading experts in their specific field.

The following specialized services are provided by our partner units within the hospital:

  • Malignant Bone Tumors: Managed by the Orthopedic Oncology Unit (Orthopedic Division).
  • Hand & Upper Extremity: Managed by the Hand Surgery Unit (Orthopedic Division).
  • Spine & Back Disorders: Managed by the Spine Unit (Orthopedic Division).
  • Shoulder Dislocations: Managed by the Shoulder Unit (Orthopedic Division).
  • Pediatric Rehabilitation: Physical therapy and comprehensive rehab are provided by the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department and Physical Therapy Institute.
