Rambam Health Care Campus is proud and honored to bestow the 2023 Rambam Award upon the Tannous Family, in recognition of their business leadership in the field of construction development enterprises; philanthropic legacies in medicine and women’s empowerment; entrepreneurship to create a better world; and for their exemplary generosity in honor of their father via the Badia Tannous Heart Institute at Rambam.
The Tannous Family
The Tannous family is a deeply rooted Christian family from Nazareth. The head of the family, Badia, was educated in the private Nazareth Baptist School. Even as a child, Badia, a people’s person, was an entrepreneur at heart and focused on creating businesses. That single-mindedness led to the establishment of his family business in the
construction industry. A man of vision, Badia's business gained a reputation for excellence. Hence, his business played an important role in the building up of the country. His company donated construction of protective shelters for the residents of Northern Israel and was also responsible for constructing schools, sports halls, community centers, residential neighborhoods, and office buildings.
Badia believed that the values of professionalism, excellence, innovation, and continuous dialogue applied equally to business and family. He established the BST real estate group in 1972, which would become one of the largest and most influential businesses of its kind in Israel and overseas. From Badia’s perspective, family is the core of a reputable company. Indeed, his wife, Eva, and his children Ghadir, Elias, Alaa, and Wassim are faithfully carrying on his legacy since he passed away in 2018. Just a few of his activities that they are perpetuating include: participation in the Israel Builders Association with the aim of developing and expanding business relationships between Israel and the rest of the world; actively contributing to public, religious, and educational institutions; supporting a variety of charities; and promoting coexistence in the State of Israel by making connections between the leaders of various social sectors, heads of local authorities, businessmen, Knesset members, and current and
former prime ministers.
Most recently, the Tannous family has sought to honor their father’s memory by donating the full internal construction of the three floors in the Eyal Ofer Heart Hospital that comprise the Badia Tannous Heart Institute at Rambam Health Care Campus.
Badia Tannous was passionate regarding his service to humankind through the building up of the nation he was born in and loved. His wife and children are passing on that legacy – one that is part of Rambam’s vision for quality healthcare and coexistence – individually and as a family through The Eva and Badia Tannous Foundation.
In acknowledgement of all the aforesaid, the Honorary Awards Committee has found the Tannous Family deserving of the 2023 Rambam Award.
