Department of Pediatric Surgery

Dr. Arcady Vachyan is Director of the Pediatric Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Unit at Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital, Rambam Health Care Campus.

Dr. Vachyan graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Rostov University in Russia (1980) and worked in the Pediatric Surgery Center in Rostov. Later he completed several fellowship programs in neonatal surgery (1987), pediatric oncologic surgery (1993) and emergency medicine (1994) in Moscow, Russia. After immigrating to Israel, Dr. Vachyan served as an Attending Surgeon in the Pediatric Surgery Department at Meir Medical Center. In 1998 he joined the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Rambam, and has headed the Pediatric Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Unit since 2011.

Before immigrating to Israel, Dr. Vachyan was a lecturer at the Rostov University Faculty of Medicine, and since joining the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital, he is involved in teaching students, interns and residents.

Dr. Vachyan's main areas of interest are minimally and robotic assisted surgery in children. Dr. Vachyan has published several peer reviewed papers and is a co-author of chapters in pediatric surgery books.
