Dr. Roni Gefen is an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Department of Pediatric Hemato-oncology at Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital, Rambam Health Care Campus
Dr. Gefen graduated (cum laude) from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and completed a pediatric residency at Assaf-Harofeh Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Rambam. He then completed a clinical fellowship at the Division of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immune Deficiency, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Gefen plays a leading role within the pediatric BMT team in the incorporation of the accreditation process, and the establishment of a long- term follow-up clinic for children who have undergone transplants. He has been a main contributor to several published studies in professional journals, and in local and international conferences.
Dr. Gefen serves as a clinical instructor at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, and teaches students in the "Exposure to the Medical System" course.
Dr. Gefen has an MSc degree in Medical Sciences from the Technion in the field of molecular biology, and was honored with several research scholarships. In the near future he will be conducting biological research at the Weizmann Institute of Science in the field of leukemic stem cells.
Dr. Gefen is a member of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ISPHO), and the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE).
