Dr. Petra Zackheim is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and Director of the Infant, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at "Ruth" Children's Hospital, Rambam Health Care Campus.
Dr. Zackheim graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Georg- August University in Goettingen, Germany, and was trained in child and adolescent psychiatry at Mazra- Hospital in Akko and Geha-Mental Health Center in Petach Tikva. She studied psychotherapy with a psychoanalytical orientation at the Institute of Psychotherapy, and Advanced Studies of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Sackler School of Medicine, University of Tel-Aviv, Advanced Graduate Studies of Infant Psychiatry, also at Sackler School of Medicine, and PE (Prolonged Exposure) and DBT (Dialectic-Behavioral Therapy).
After establishing and directing the Child & Adolescent Outpatient Service at Mazra Hospital, Dr. Zackheim joined the staff at Rambam in 2003, and since then has served as Acting Director of Pediatric Psychiatry. Her special interests lie in the field of the interface between communication and severe emotional syndromes, and comorbidity of physical and emotional disorders.
