Department of Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Rambam Health Care Campus receives and treats approximately 120,000 patients per year. The only tertiary medical and level 1 trauma center in Northern Israel, it is a 36-bed facility with a shock room containing six bays. At need the department’s capacity can be expanded to treat many more patients.

Rambam serves as a center for treating severe trauma and complicated medical patients from throughout the north of Israel, and is a referral center for 12 district hospitals, in addition to the Israel Defense Forces Northern Command, the United States Sixth Fleet, and United Nations peacekeeping forces stations in the region. Some 4,000 trauma patients are hospitalized at Rambam Health Care Campus each year.

The Department of Emergency Medicine is accredited for training residents in Emergency Medicine, as well as nurses and paramedics, and carries out various academic activities, including lectures, conferences, and clinical studies.
