Legacy Heritage Clinical Research Institute at Rambam

"In Israel, people live in small towns and villages, and there is a family and clan structure, so they see immediately what's happening with their elderly relatives. This is ideal for early diagnosis and tracking of individuals and for epidemiological, genetic studies within the family and clan."

Prof. Judith Aharon Peretz, Director, Cognitive Neurology Unit, RHCC

The Cognitive Neurology Unit at Rambam evaluates and treats congenital and acquired cognitive impairments and learning disabilities in children, cognitive disorders in adults resulting from combat and civilian head injuries and neurological diseases, and memory disorders and dementia in the elderly.

Our proposal calls for transforming this unit from a local Israeli center to an international Center of Excellence, the cornerstone of whose clinical-research activity will be genetic investigations aimed at elucidating the biology of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Goals will include early detection of risk factors, disease prevention, and the design of novel, improved therapies
