Vision & Mission

The mission of the Legacy Heritage Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (LHCRIR) is to advance excellent clinical research aimed at understanding the causes of, and potentially curing of human diseases.

The Institute's establishment in July 2008, was made possible through the generosity of the Legacy Heritage Fund, and it has jumpstarted Rambam's plan to build a Biomedical Discovery Tower designed for facilitating trans-disciplinary interactions among physicians, scientists and engineers and for incubating world-class, 21st-century medical breakthroughs.

LHCRIR strategic goal is to build a critical mass of research activity necessary for developing Centers of Excellence dedicated to patient-oriented research discovery.

Top-priority areas of investigation include cancer ; cardiovascular diseases and thrombosis;
diabetes metabolic and kidney diseases; inflammatory, infectious and immune diseases;
translational genetics; neurodegenerative diseases; and medical-devices and imaging technology.

This research activity will complement Rambam's outstanding and highly intensive provision of medical care to Northern Israel's residents and, in addition, will benefit from our proximity to the exceptional basic-science, human and physical resources of the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology. Furthermore, because this research activity will require reinforcement by existing local high-tech industries, and also will most certainly generate new life-sciences enterprises in Haifa and the North, we foresee that the Legacy Heritage Clinical Research Institute at Rambam will significantly fuel Israel's long-term economic and scientific growth.
