The Pediatric Sleep Disorders Unit is the largest, and almost only center of its kind in northern Israel, which provides diagnostic and treatment services for all ages, including newborn infants.
The unit is certified by the Ministry of Health as an authority on the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, and is a leader in preventive treatments. Additionally, the unit provides training to parents on developing proper sleeping habits in babies.
The unit cares for older children as well, treating sleep disorders such as nightmares, sleepwalking, bedwetting, snoring and sleep apnea. It also works with youth suffering from biological clock disorders stemming from going to bed very late and difficulty waking up in the morning, a situation which can lead to study problems.
The unit also cares for children with attention deficit disorders, the origins of which have been diagnosed as sleep disorders, thereby precluding the use of Ritalin.
