The Pediatric Emergency Unit is the premier emergency center in the north of the country. It treats the entire range of emergent and urgent medical conditions in babies and children, resulting from illness or injury. The unit is the immediate service provider for every baby or child requiring emergency medical care, particularly those who are critically ill or in unstable condition. The unit specializes in reducing pain and anxiety using modern techniques specially adjusted to each patient. The protocols of treatment of pain and anxiety are determined in full cooperation with the parents, and in accordance with the patient's age and type of treatment required. The staff of the Pediatric Emergency Unit has extensive experience and is a national leader in this field.
The Pediatric Emergency Unit offers a kid-friendly atmosphere. The nursing staff prioritizes all patients according to the severity of their condition, using a computerized tracking system. The unit has access to all medical disciplines on a round-the-clock basis, including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, and Ophthalmology. In complicated trauma cases, where integrated intervention is required, the unit works in cooperation with the Trauma Unit of the Rambam Hospital (a Level 1 Trauma Center).
