The Pediatric Diabetes and Obesity Clinic operates within the framework of Meyer Children's Hospital's outpatient clinics, treating children and youth with diabetes and excessive weight disorders. It is the largest clinic of its kind in Northern Israel, and treats over 600 patients from a large and diverse population. The clinic provides urgent and routine consultation services to the various hospital departments and support for all issues related to treatment and training in the relevant fields.
The clinic maintains a multi-disciplinary team comprising physicians, a coordinating nurse, dieticians, social workers and psychologists, who educate children in how to cope with and treat their diabetes.
The clinic operates in conjunction with the Department of Pediatrics A, which cares for patients whose condition requires hospitalization. The clinic team is involved in extensive research activities, and participates in a number of large multi-center studies, independent clinical studies, and basic research.
