The Department of Emergency Medicine receives and treats approximately 120,000 patients per year. The only Level One Trauma Center in the north of Israel, it is a 34-bed facility with a trauma admitting room containing three bays. The Emergency Department is currently in the process of doubling its capacity.
The Trauma Unit is the busiest in Israel. It serves as a center for treating severely injured patients from throughout northern Israel, and is a referral center for nine hospitals in the region, in addition to IDF military casualties and UN Forces in Lebanon. Some 4000 trauma patients are hospitalized at Rambam Health Care Campus each year.
The Department of Emergency Medicine is accredited for training residents in Emergency Medicine, and carries out a number of academic activities, including lectures, conferences, clinical studies, and more.
